The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau published an issue spotlight regarding digital payment apps used by consumers and businesses which allow for the storing of funds. The bureau warned that the funds stored on these apps may not be protected by federal deposit insurance coverage, making them vulnerable in the event of financial distress.
