The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) announced that Brian Bender has joined as senior vice president and controller. Bender is responsible for overseeing the preparation, organization and ongoing analysis of all financial information affecting ICBA and its subsidiaries.
“Brian is a welcome addition to the accounting team. His experience will serve ICBA and our members well,” ICBA Senior Executive Vice President Tricia Hopkins said. “In his new role, Brian will be instrumental in identifying and developing policies and procedures across the association and integrating diverse accounting systems to maximize workflow and efficiency.”
Bender brings extensive experience in finance and accounting, including many years in public accounting at CohnReznick, where he was a senior manager in the firm’s nonprofit practice, working with trade associations and other membership organizations. He also served as controller for The Optical Society and, most recently, executive director of financial evaluations and reporting for America’s Health Insurance Plans Inc.
Bender is a certified public accountant (CPA) and serves on the American Institute of CPAs’ Nonprofit Entities Expert Panel. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from West Virginia University and a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University.
