A report prepared by Republican members of the House Financial Services Committee alleges that the Department of Justice may have decided not to prosecute HSBC and its executives for anti-money laundering law violations in 2012 because of the bank’s “systemic importance.” The lawmakers also claim that the DOJ and other government agencies have failed to respond to its requests for information, even under subpoena.
