As Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D-Fla.) faces criticism for supporting the Consumer Protection and Choice Act, which would limit the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s authority to regulate payday lending, a survey commissioned by the Community Financial Services Association of America has found that 96 percent of borrowers said that the payday loans they took out had been useful to them.
